Apr 20, 2021

RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia National Guard Association, the professional association of Virginia National Guard’s Officers and Warrant Officers, announced the selection of Warrant Officer 1 (Va.) Jake Crocker to serve as the Executive Director earlier today.

“Crocker has the experience, drive and energy to take us to the next level,” said Maj. Andrew J. Czaplicki, VNGA president. “I am so glad that he’s able to support our association during such an unprecedented time and help us capitalize on new opportunities to demonstrate purpose and intention while driving home our mission: garner support for the Virginia National Guard’s role in state and national security, and improve our members’ quality of life.”

Crocker replaces Lt. Col. (Ret.) Matthew Ritchie who served as the Executive Director for the past four years.

“Lt. Col. Richie has done amazing work for us,” Czaplicki said. “He championed the association during the establishment of the management group and has been a coach and mentor to four presidents. I can’t thank him enough for his service.”

Crocker will oversee all the executive office operations and communications for the association, as well as serve as the Executive Director of the Virginia National Guard Management Group. The management group provides professional services to the VNGA, the Virginia Army / Air National Guard Enlisted Association, and the Virginia National Guard Historical Foundation.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to help build and enhance these organizations and put my variety of skills and experience to work on their behalf,” said Crocker.

According to the VNGA bylaws, the Executive Council is required to confirm the hiring selection by a majority vote which is expected to take place during their next scheduled meeting on May 6, 2021.

Established in 1960, the VNGA represents the interests of nearly 1,300 Officers and Warrant Officers assigned to the Virginia National Guard and pursues the most effective benefits and resources to help promote world-class service in support of our communities, commonwealth and nation.
