Objective and Intent of the Scholarship Grant Program
The Virginia National Guard Association scholarship program provides financial assistance directly to member officers, warrant officers and their dependent children and spouses. Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis, and individuals are encouraged to apply annually. Applications must be submitted by 30 September each year.
The association currently offers two special scholarships to honor previous association members: the Chief Warrant Officer 4 William C. Singletary Scholarship and the Colonel Joseph “Ed” Galloway Scholarship. CW4 Singletary gave his own life in rescuing two elderly women from drowning, and Col. Galloway was a charter member and past president of the association who served on the Scholarship Committee for two decades. The amount and number of scholarships awarded each year will be determined by the Scholarship Committee subject to the resources available and with approval of the association’s Board of Directors.
The annual scholarship application period is from July 1 to September 30.
