NGAUS accepting AFBA Scholarship Applications

Apr 14, 2020

RICHMOND, Va. – The National Guard Association of the United States is now accepting applications for the Armed Forces Benefits Association’s NGAUS Active Life Member Scholarship.  The AFBA NGAUS Active Life Member Scholarship awards two $5,000 scholarships every July to Active Life members of NGAUS or dependents of Active Life members seeking an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate degree.

The application period is March 2 to June 1, 2020.

The AFBA was established in 1947 with the support of then General of the Army, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower to ease the strain on military members and their families.  At the time, military life insurance would not pay a death benefit if the member was killed in combat.

The AFBA provides affordable life insurance for members of the military, emergency first responders, government employees and contractors, and their families.  AFBA serves almost 650,000 members and has supplied nearly $2 billion in death benefits since its inception. AFBA death benefits are funded by life insurance by 5Star Life Insurance Company (“”5Start Life”).
