The Virginia National Guard Association budget to provide general purpose funds to support unit-level professional development activities or similar events. Annual funding is determined by strength reports including membership rates, unit-level participation and described needs. The funds are dispersed quarterly beginning Jan. 1st through Dec. 31st. Requests must be made at least 90-days in advance of the event. The only authorized use of professional development funds is to enhance unit-level professional development programs. The unit commander or event point of contact may purchase food stuffs, beverages, printed materials or other training aids– to include speaker fees– associated with the professional development event. Expenditures should directly support Officers’ and Warrant Officers’ development. All Officers and Warrant Officers of the unit must be eligible and invited to attend the professional development event.
