RICHMOND, Va. — The 6th annual Virginia National Guard Conference held July 28-31, 2022, at the Richmond Marriott, Richmond, Va. is fast approaching! With registration closed, the Virginia National Guard Management Group’s Conference Planning Committee wanted to share a few notes:
Schedule Updates
Thursday, July 28: The “VIP” pre-conference dinner is held at Wong Gonzales Restaurant and Bar on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and brings together senior members of the VNGA, the Virginia National Guard Enlisted Association, and the Virginia National Guard Historical Foundation with long-time industry partners to enjoy a pre-conference meal and to receive updates on the association’s efforts during the past year.
Friday, July 29: The mixer at Vagabond’s Bar and Lounge has been canceled and replaced with a private tour of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Capitol Building. The Capitol is rarely open for tours at night and the tour is sure to provide a unique experience for participants. The tour will run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and allows for conference participants to enjoy the Friday night meal and Grand Opening of the Exhibition Hall festivities. The hotel shuttle departs at 6:50 p.m. and will drop tour participants at the Capitol building.
Uniform Update
Conference attendees are invited to wear a combination of casual and business casual to the conference activities on Friday and Saturday. All business meetings and professional development sessions are business casual. The Virginia National Guard’s Military Ball: Hearts & Heroes is still formal dress military attire (e.g. mess dress, Army Service Uniform, Army Green Service Uniform, Air Force Service Dress Uniform, etc.).
Lodging Update
The Virginia National Guard Management Group has retained a few rooms for Friday and Saturday evening. Interested conference participants can contact the VNGMG to request a room at the pre-deadline group rate of $148.00 per night plus associated fees. E-mail contact@vngmg.org for more information.

The conference and business meeting takes places Friday, July 29 and 30 and is open to all currently serving and former members of the Virginia National Guard, the VNGA, the VNGEA, the Virginia National Guard Historical Foundation and friends of the National Guard. Junior Officers and experienced leaders will benefit from the career-specific breakout sessions, as well as from each other, in a friendly networking environment.
