Access to State Parks

The Issue
The Virginia National Guard is integrated in ongoing national security missions around the world, this requires increased efforts to maintain physical and mental fitness of servicemembers. Obtaining access to state parks support servicemembers meet readiness requirements which directly impact the readiness and deployability of the directly impact the readiness and deployability of the Virginia National Guard.
Recommendation
Amend §10.110.1–202 of the 202 of the Virginia Code to establish a “Guardian Passport” that authorizes members of the Virginia National Guard to enter Virginia’s state parks without having to pay an admittance or parking fee.
