VNGA accepting applications for 2023 National Capitol Summit

Jan 8, 2023

Richmond, Va. — The Virginia National Guard Association is seeking interested Officers and Warrant Officers to attend the National Guard Association of the United States’ annual National Capitol Summit events March 19-21 and July 16-18, 2023, in Washington, D.C.  Interested Officers and Warrant Officers must email advocacy@vnga.us before Jan. 26, 2023 to apply.

The National Capitol Summit is one of two officer professional-development programs NGAUS currently offers Army and Air National Guard company-grade officers. The program brings Guardsmen from each state and territory to the nation’s capital for a close look at how the government works and the role NGAUS plays in the legislative process.

Each state, commonwealth, territory, and the district may send one Army or Air National Guard Officer or Warrant Officer to the summit. It is the goal of NGAUS to have representation from each state. Alternate names may be submitted and will be selected to fill any vacant spots on a first come first serve basis.

NGAUS will provide all funding for transportation, meals, and lodging for the attendees. Leave status for full-time servicemember attendees (PTDY, pass, ordinary leave) is at the discretion of local command.

The Capitol Summit includes a congressional component where attendees will have the opportunity to meet with congressional offices. The Virginia National Guard Association is responsible for selecting the individuals who are determined to be most qualified to attend.

Interested Officers and Warrant Officers may email advocacy@vnga.us to apply.
